Where we've spent previous donations:
Research
£8,100 to investigate a new approach into the management of transphincteric fistulas. The technique, if successful, might subsequently go onto be applied to IBD patients.
£9,000 to improve understanding of the causes of perianal fistulas in Crohn's disease.
£7,200 into the early detection of pre-cancerous changes in the bowel lining.
£9,850 allowing researchers to explore Vitamin D as a treatment for IBD.
£20,000 to fund a study into the comparison of gut cells in Crohn's Disease patients following surgery, which could allow recurrences of Crohn's Disease to be predicted and treated earlier.
Training
£15,000 grant was awarded to the Burdette Institute, some of which has funded 4 x MSc three year Programmes, eight stand alone training modules, endoscopy simulator equipment and research study expenses.
Education
£30,000 went towards the refurbishment of the Clore Lecture Theatre which included purchasing a High Definition projector.
£164,000 has gone towards the extension to the Wolfson Endoscopy Unit.
£150,000 was spent on the modular buildings which house the Burdett Institute for Gastrointestinal nursing, the Psychological Medicine Unit and the IBD Unit.
